Gulu

Gulu

In 2012 we donated 300 pairs of eyejusters to communities in Northern Uganda in partnership with Villages of Hope Africa.  Since 1986, Northern Uganda, and Acholi Sub Region in particular, has suffered through a disastrous civil war. The conflict between the ruling government of Uganda and The Lord’s Resistance Army, or LRA, led by self-professed messiah Joseph Kony, has devastated the country.  VOHA aids the displaced Acholi people of Gulu in returning to their home villages and provides clean water, agricultural and economic development.  VOHA founder David Mann and his family travelled to Gulu to set up the eyecare project and start up the donations. Unfortunately, we did not get very many photos of the donation process. The team caught a stomach bug and so it took all their energy to complete the project and photographing it fell by the wayside.   To learn more about the organization and the important work they do, we invite you to check out their website http://villagesofhopeafrica.org
